Linus' Raven Guard project part 1

So, finally a unit finalizing first step in a hopefully longlived and fun hobby project.

Sorry for the bad pics - black is't easy. I guess the best would be somwhere between the ones with flash and the ones without,

I landed on some blue/grey highligting on the armour, finishing off with subtle edge highlighting. Time consuming, but I think it ended up ok. The lines could always get better though, but some time you just have to say stop and go on. Please say what you miss, what you think I have left out and what could have been done better.

I know there is no such thing as weathering or other worn effects here. Not sure I want that. What do you think? I will be using som weathering techniques on some vehicles, though...

The only thing missing now is the squad numbers flying in from China and the sergeant's power weapon.

Next up: Shrike, Korvidae and Solaq, then a couple of vehicles and of course finishing the knight from last summer.

Dark Eldar – Talos and Cronos Pain Engine – Ørnulvs #1 Dark Eldar project 2016

I just love these models. Great fun to build, magnetize and create appropriate bases. Of course I had to tie them in to the rest of my Dark Eldar army, trying to be consistent with the colour scheme, and at the same time trying to make them stand out as unique.

The closest resemblance is of course my Grotesques.

Black Templars - Landraider Redeemer and Assault Terminators with Chaplain

In order to get my Black Templars army up to 1500p, I decided to build a Landraider Redeemer.

To accompany it I decided to go with Assault Terminators, and of course, a Chaplain in terminator armour.

I am Alpharius - We're going!

So... It appears we're going to the recently announced "I am Aplharius" 40K doubles event weekend that's being held at Warhammer World April 16th and 17th. We're sending over a 'Gang of Four' again; Inger Helene, Ørnulv, Tom-Erik and myself.

Tickets and accommodation has all been taken care of, so all that remains is to figure out which armies and models we'll be bringing along. My initial thoughts is that each pair of lists should be able to support and complement each other, while still allowing for the possibilities of differing agendas developing.

The 2 x 1010 points format too is... interesting. It's tempting to just take the Team Tournament lists from Adepticon last year, but I have been painting (and then building!) quite a lot of models since then...

Are any of you readers out there on the Intertubes thinking of going?

Jørn's 2015 in review

He we are again, on the tail-end of another year. All across the 'blogosphere' there's one end-of-year article after another, reminding me it's time I got started on something similar here as well.

This year's Main Event has undoubtedly been the trip to Adepticon, back in March. I'd like to thank Teras Cassidy from Geek Nation Tours once more for taking care of a lot of details for us, so that we could focus in having fun. I also want to do a shout-out to all our opponents in the Team Tournament this year. From our first game to the last you guys were awesome. Of course, winning the Agressors award was a really fun surprise.

We also owe Ørn big, for all his help with making objective counters, display boards, bases for us - as well as helping with both ideas and some actual painting on a couple of our armies. Sadly, we will not be going 2016, but we will more than likely be back again eventually! :D

Sometimes, the 'grind' of building and painting an army for an event will take so much out of you that it takes a while after the event before you're able to get back in the saddle. Not so for me this year.

Looking back, I seem to have produced more than a dozen new units after Adepticon. Ørn's close behind with nine units by my count, including his five amazing Imperial Knights. Inger Helene, Tom-Erik, and Trond have finished a handful of units between them too - although not all have been posted here yet.

There's quite a few kits floating around the group's hobby tables in various states of assembly and painting, I know. It's too cold and damp outside to be able to (safely) spray undercoat anything, but we all have enough unstarted and unfinished projects to keep busy until the weather turns again, I'm sure.

I'll be posting all of mine here as I'm able to finish them. You can expect new units for both my Chaos armies and my Crimson Fists. For now, here's a Spartan that I just got some alternate tracks for.

Until then... Here's to an entertaining and productive 2016 for everyone!
