Easter holiday gaming summary

2 kommentarer

As mentioned in a previous post, I have mostly spent the last couple of months building terrain and two new gaming tables. This work has been fun (but time consuming), so it felt good to have played a couple of games again. This is a quick summary and a couple of pictures from my last four games.

3000p Orks (Inger Helene) vs Ultramarines (two organisation charts)

A game initiating my new city gaming board, some time before Easter. We played “Crusade” with 5 objectives and used “Dawn of War” deployment. It is always fun to play with so many (finished) models. But it is time consuming. Especially since there where some time since both Inger Helene and I had played together. But we picked up the “slack” pretty quick. This game where particularly bloody. In example the Big Mek with Shock Attack Gun killed 8 marines in one shot turn one, and a pop shot from a Razorback blew up a Ork Battle Wagon turn one! Units where slaughtered all over the place by the end of turn two. We did not manage to finish the game. We have both have had a hard working period, resulting in us finishing mid way after agreeing on a draw. However, we decided on a rematch with the same army lists during April or early May.

2000p Dark Eldar (André) vs Ultramarines (one organisation chart)

We played “Purge The Alien” and used “Hammer and Anvil” deployment. André wanted to play on the desert table. I used an army list that I have tested a couple of times. It has more variety than I have used earlier (a take all comers list). Andre used his “standard take all comers” army. As usual André and myself “lurked” around the two first couple of turns, but suddenly there where bitter fire fighting all across the table.

After 5 turns the game ended:

Ultramarines 11 – Dark Eldar 6

2000p Chaos Space Marines (Linus) vs Dark Eldar (one organisation chart)

We played The Emperor’s Will and used “Vanguard Strike” deployment. Linus wanted to play on the city table. Having played Ultramarines two times in a row, I used my Dark Eldar army. The army is slightly altered from my “standard list”, using a flyer and kiting the warlord for close combat, having to reduce the number of squads. Linus played a “fun MSU list”, including Chosen, and lots of zombies. The Chaos Marines pushed real hard in turn one – three, with Typhus and he’s Terminator Squad deep striking behind/into the Dark Eldar line. Focusing all attention on first the Daemon Prince, then Typhus and his terminators, the Dark Eldar managed to turn the battle, grinding the Chaos army apart.

After 5 turns the game ended:

Dark Eldar 6 – Chaos Space Marines 0

2000p Eldar (Trond) vs Ultramarines (one organisation chart)

We played “Crusade” and used “Hammer And Anvil” deployment. Having played Dark Eldar the day before this game, I reverted to my Space Marines, eager to have ago with them against Tronds´  Eldar army. By turn two the Eldar army had two units of Warp Spiders in my deployment line, War Walkers on one of my flanks, a Jetfighter in front of me and a unit with Harlequins in assault range next turn…. And as if that was not bad enough he had multiple small units and two Fire Prisms guarding three (out of a total of five objectives) in his own deployment zone. But the blessings were upon the Ultramarines (and their dice) this battle, and the Ultramarines slowly regained momentum and got the upper hand. One thing that was fun was taking the risk and declaring using the psychic ability “Gate of Infinity” (rolling three dice) and deep striking/transporting 10 marines and the Librarian straight into the Eldar deployment zone. Great fun, must try that again some time.

By turn four the Eldar general felt the end result was so definite, he decided to end the game:

Ultramarines 9 – Eldar 6

Looking forward to more gaming!

Cheers,
Ørnulv

An all weekend gaming event. Unfortunately only 7 players made it. Still, it was a fun gaming weekend with lots of good food, drinks, laughter and some… frustration (mostly due to bad dice roll).

The comp was: 2000p, one Force Organisation Chart, no Allies, no Mysterious Terrain ore Mysterious Objectives.
 THE ARMYS

Andreas Chaos army

Andrés Dark Eldar (Last Hatred)

Trond´s Craftworld Eldar (Biel Tan)

Inger Helene´s Orks

Jørn´s Chaos army (Word Bearers)

Ørnulv Space Marines (Ultramarines)

(Tom Erik, sorry my picture of your Necron army came out very blurry).

THE BATTLES

Chaos vs Chaos (Word Bearers)

Craftworld Eldar (Biel Tan) vs Dark Eldar (Last Hatred)

Spacemarines (Ultramarines vs Orks)

Do you feel lucky? Well do you Boyz!?

Craftworld Eldar (Biel Tan) vs Necrons

Kjerringvik 2012 After Action Report

...and so it's over. Another weekend at Ørn's summer house filled with food and drink, fun and games, victory and defeat. What the hell! There's always next year to look forward to, right?

Let's get to the point of the article then: Pictures!

The first group of shots is from my game against IH's Orks. Fortunately for me, her dice were susceptible to bribery and refused to even pretend they were ever going to roll evenly. For her next game she benched them, an borrowed Linus' dice in stead.

Simultaneously, the Lords of the Dance (and pantyhose!) faced off on the other table. It must have been an intense game, cause they apparently didn't think to grab the camera and snap a few pictures. All I've got for you are these two shots I took myself as they were deploying.

André and Linus showed up during the aforementioned games, but quickly became unfit for playing so had to try and make up for it next day. Having been unable to get any games in with 6h, Ørnulv and I teamed up with one each and played a 2x1000 vs 2000 points game. By the time the game ended, Linus' last handfull of Plague Marines had managed to keep hold of the Relic. They were the last remains of the CSM army, though, and another round would surely have seen us tabled. Ørnulv and André managed to take all the secondary objectives though, so the game was a tie.

Can't wait until next year!!! Thanks again, big guy.

Hunker in the Bunker

It had been a long and agonizing process... The old apartment that just wouldn't sell. The refurbishment of the new apartment by artisans of deplorable skill and stained reputation. The faulty rewiring and the ever increasing delays.

At last, we wouldn't have to listen to any more moaning about it... :P ...'cause it was time for a proper 'Battle Bunker Initiation'!!!

I got to Ørnulv's place early and got the grand tour of the new flat, as well as an up close and personal look at his new Dark Eldar warriors. I suspected his pics hadn't done them proper justice, so I took a few of my own...

Ørnulv has doen a few ajustments between then and now, but here's a couple of the models as they were at the time. You'll probably be seeing a lot more of these in the coming weeks, now that Mr. Painting-machine is shifting into gear. They're also scheduled to make their first on-table appearances early next year, so stay tuned!

After Trond and Inger Helene had arrived - and we'd all had a healthy helping of ørnulv's Cili con Carne - it was time to roll dice! We started off with a two vs two game. After about a round and a half we agreed we should have planned it out a bit instead of trying to wing it, and pulled the armies back off the table.

After talking it over we decided to just pair off, and spent the rest of the evening playing two 2000 points games side-by-side. I had the pleasure of trying to deal with Ghazghkull and about a bazillion orks howling for blood. Ørnulv got to play his rather shooty Ultramarines against Trond's speedy new toys. He'd spent the previous few days getting those Vypers in the background painted to be allowed to use them this weekend. Hopefully, he'll show them off properly before long...

I didn't really want to go to the initiation and not having played the host, so the next morning Ørnulv and I kicked off another game after breakfast. I had to leave just three rounds into the game though, and at the time it could still have gone either way. I held two objectives while Ørnulv held another. The fourth objective was up for grabs, and one of mine wasn't exactly firmly secured. I guess we'll have to settle this score at a later date.

So... All in all a pretty good way to spend the middle of the weekend! I'm still a little envious of that bunker, but I'm sure that'll pass as soon as the missus discovers that some of the cupboards have space left over... :D

TSB tur til Kjerringvik 2010!

6 kommentarer

ARMEENE:

5 utvalgte scenarier (takk for alt arbeidet Jørn), 6 armeer, alle møter alle i random seleksjon av motstander (og scenarier), og 3 nye 4 X 6 spillbord med variert terreng. Hver arme på max 1.250 poeng.

Jørn sine Word Bearers (Chaos Space Marines).

Inger Helene sin Orke-armé (Da Fimalaboss).

Andre sin Eldar armé.

Trond sine Eldar armé (Biel-tan).

Linus sine Plague Marines (Chaos Space Marines).

Ørnulv sin Hive Fleet Grendel (Tyranider).
