Finally I am finished with “mopping up” the last of the models I decided to add to my Dark Eldar and Eldar Corsairs/Eldar army this time around.
My Eldar Corsairs/Eldar army needed more HQ units to accompany the rest of the units. After several discussions over a period of a year, Trond generously provided a Farseer Skyrunner to compliment my Windriders, and of course, their darker kin.
As usual, I had to make some alterations. Wanting to keep everything “dark and gloomy”, and making a statement showing this particular Farseer has diverted from the true path of the Eldar, I decided to mount him on a combination of a Eldar/Dark Eldar Jetbike. Now - how to arm him? I wanted to arm him with a weapon that portrays that the Farseer has “gone bad”, and that could be used as a blade and/or as a spear. Hence, I combined a combination of Eldar/Dark Eldar weaponry. It was also obvious to my that my Farseer should have the same colour scheme as my Dark Eldar HQ units, being true to the former Dark Eldar Codex cover art that (possibly) portraits Asdrubael Vect. Anyway, this is how the model turned out.
To babysit, or enhance, my Wraithguard unit, I decided to ad a Spiritseer. I love the fluff behind this character. Its obsession with connecting to the departed, I just had to add a staff /spear from the Dark Eldar range with skulls. I used a old school white metal Warlock model as a base for my interpretation of a Spiritseer that are drawn even more to the departed (and the Dark Eldar).
Two are good, three are awesome! Trond had an Eldar Warvalker model to spear; He kindly gave it to me as a gift (THX Trond). I of course had to alter the model to match my previous two Warvalkers, adding the “bat-wings”, chains and spears/spikes (and a Dark Eldar head). Great fun to build and paint. This time I chose to fix the weapons.
What next? Time goes by fast… Going to Adepticon 2017, I have to add more units to my Ultramarines army.
Cheers,
Ørnulv

Eldar Corsairs Wraithguard
Playing around with my ”Eldar” – ”Dark Eldar” – Eldar Corsair” concept, I wanted to add a unit that had punch enough to go against some of the more harder and tougher targets.
I decided not to magnetize, and commit them to D-scythes. Of course a Haemonculus have tampered with them and corrupted them a little.
I am looking forward to testing them in battle.
What’s next? I honestly need a break from bone colours and blue metallics. So I guess it is time to revisit my Ultramarines this summer. And on that topic – happy summer holidays everyone

Eldar Corsairs Warwalkers
I have been on the receiving end of the Eldar Warwalkers so many times… So when it came to adding a Heavy support unit to my own Eldar Corsairs, choosing them was not a very hard choice to make.
Again I tried to merge bits from my Dark Eldar with the Eldar parts in order to make them look “a little fallen into darkness”.
So I went with death skulls, chains, poles, and Dark Eldar heads on the crew, and not forgetting fins from the Hellion Skyboards.
Colour wise I of course went with my Dark Eldar / Eldar Corsairs pallet.
The Weapons are magnetized, so that I have the possibility to field a variety of guns on them.
What Next? I need some object markers and to re-equip some of my winged little friends…
Cheers,
Ørnulv

Eldar Corsairs Windriders (Eldar Jetbikes)
Finally. Obviously I did not kit hem out to look like ordinary Eldar Jetbikes/Windriders. My Eldar are tainted, ore maybe they remember their true inheritage…
Anyway, I used left over ”fins” from my Dark Eldar Reaver bikes, and ”wings” from my Dark Eldar ”Hellions”, to make them more ”spikey”.
I magnetized them in order to field various load outs of guns.
What next? There is something heavy yet neat walking about…

Eldar Corsairs Dire Avengers – Ørnulv #4 Project 2015
“I am not
certain what they are any longer…” - my statement regarding my last (at least
for now) squad-units to go with my Eldar Corsair project.
Actually, I
struggled with these models. It is obviously an old kit; lots of mould lines,
many parts with pore fit and a pose making them tilt forward. I wanted them to
stand tall, and had to use a lot of green stuff, pouches, belts with drapes etc.
to close the gaps.
As with the
rest of my Eldar Corsairs models, I wanted to tie them in with my Dark
Eldar. How to go about that? First of
all I must admit that I have always felt that the Dire Avenger helmets are a
little to “lofty” and bulky for my taste. They are ok, but not my favourite so
to speak. Hence, I wanted something different, telling the story of Aspect Warriors
“going bad”. What better way then using Dark Eldar “heads”... Also I used
equipment belts from their darker keen to help fill the hip gaps mentioned above.
Again I
wanted to keep them in line with the original Aspect Colours, but at the same
time keep them in coherency with the my Dark Eldar ant the Wave Serpents. I
went with dark blue metallic colours, dark brown red metallic, dark grey/black
and the bone white used on the rest of my Eldar Corsairs. The faces are the
same as my Dark Eldar.
This is how
they turned out:

Eldar Corsairs Warp Spiders – Ørnulvs #3 Project 2015
And then
they finally materialized!
Again I
found the Finecast models being of high quality, with lots of crisp details.
Once I managed to mount them on the stone bases, this unit was a joy to work on.
I have
dreaded this ”jump unit” for years, as Trond have used them against us with
great success. So when I decided upon an Eldar Corsair force to team up with my Dark
Eldar, this unit was a “no brainer”.
As with my
Fire Dragons, I wanted them to be grim and dark, yet keep them in line with the
main colours of the Aspect Warrior colour scheme. I used a slightly darker red
metallic than on my Fire Dragons, and exchanged the original black colour on the
back packs with a metallic dark rust-brown colour, to tie them in with the rest of the
Eldar Corsair / Dark Eldar colour concept. Again a bone colour was used to
theme them in with the Wave serpents (and the Sails on the Raiders/Ravagers). Enough said, this is how they turned out:

Eldar Corsairs Fire Dragons – Ørnulvs #2 Project 2015
In my previous
“Eldar Corsairs” post back in January, I stated: “Time to bring on some heat…”
So,
finally, they are done – my Fire Dragons. My progress have been slow because I
got involved in a joint venture in order to get our army’s ready for the Team Tournament
at Adepticon (lots of fun, se separate posts).
Anyway, as
previously stated, my goal is to make my Eldar Corsairs look grim, almost Dark
Eldar like, but at the same time with a clear link to the traditional Aspect
Warrior colours. For my Fire Dragons I chose to go with a dark reed metallic
look in the same painting style as my Dark Eldar (and the Wave Serpents). I
chose to go with a dark brownish metal and bone white fore the same reasons.
These Finecast models where very detailed, and actually a pleasure to paint (after green
stuffing the small holes that are found on this type of models). Drilling and
pinning to the stone bases worked out fine. Always a challenge to hard-line and
then using metal washes to blend it all together. Nothing really turns out exactly
as I want it to, but I am pretty ok with the result. Anyway, this is how they
turned out.

Eldar Corsairs Wave Serpents - Ørnulvs #1 Project 2015
Adepticon
2014; Trond and myself faced an Eldar Wave serpent list. We where shot to peace’s
by the end of turn 3! Of course Trond have fielded Wave serpents fore a long
time now, and with great success during the last edition of the Eldar Codex,
but the experience at Adepticon really opened my eyes to the awesome potential
of the Wave serpent. And then the new Dark Eldar Codex arrived. With the
Raiders getting more expensive, and the Wyches loosing Haywire grenades, it
dawned on my to join my Dark Eldar with Eldar. After all, they are the same
kin…
Having
decided not to create an Astra Militarum army after all, I returned all bought
models, and received in return enough Eldar models to create an ally for my
Dark Eldar.
Now - how
to paint them? How to make the appearance of a joint force, distinctive – jet
coherent? Since the Craft Worlds are so distinct with rigid colour schemes, and
the Aspect warriors so individually vibrant, I had to get around it all to keep
everything gloomy and dark as would befit my Dark Eldar army. Eldar going bad, why not? Eldar Corsairs - done!
I wanted to
make the models reflect that they “have gone bad”. Hence I started modifying
the original design, adding lots of Dark Eldar bits to them.
A large
skull was added to the rear end door, a large bladevane added below the hull
together with skulls on each side.
Underneath
the front section bladevanes where added, missiles used to make a jagged appearance
inside the u-shaped front, and spears with skulls added to the hull front, and
barbed wire with skulls added to both sides.
It was time
to paint them. I decided to paint all the parts separate, gluing the model
together once finished with the paint job.

The model
is of an older design, and very “wobbly” since the base rod is so tiny compered
to the size of the model. I will have to make a new stand for them at some
point.
What next?
Time to bring on some heat…
