I HATE DICE!

1 kommentarer

To sum it up.... I hate dice...
So from now on, anyone who wants to play wargames with me must abide by the following rules:
Rule nr 1: NO DICE! All dice rolls are considered to be the mathematical average of the dice toss.
Rule nr 2: Abide by rule nr one!
Subsequently it can be decided by a game of poker, 5 card stud, or stone, scissor-paper, or a short game of chineess checkers or another way of settling an outcome. I just don`t wanne see any more dice!! I hope that at least Ørnulv will agree with me ;)
If I had played Axis and Allies yesterday I would have won at the end of turn 1 no matter which army I had selected (The roll of one is a good thing in AA)

So for the remainder of this week I will not toss any more dice!

Dark Eldar Haemonculus - ØRNULVS JANUARY 2012 PROJECT # 2

After having spent considerable time on the 30 Wyches, I decided it was time for variation and a much smaller and quicker project. I therefore decided to build my two Haemonculus (HQ).

To date GW only produce two Heamonculus models. Urien Rakarth and a more “standard” Heamonculus (both Citadel Finecast). This is the first time I work with the “new” Citadel Finecast models. Sorry, I don’t like them. A lot of flashing and moulding lines has to be fixed, and the new resin is really “fragile” and “crisp”. Thank good my combat Arcon, Lelith and 10 Incubus models are in metal (for a future project when I receive more slate from Jørn and after the transports are built).

I decided not to use al the components in the kits, minimising the number of arms and gismos that probably would break during tabletop gaming. I use both models as "normal Heamonculus" so I they have to poses. I also decided to fix the hovering models by using brass rod rather than the standard “snake like tendrils” - in resin. Both are built with Liquefier gun (one from spare Scourges parts).

Looking forward to paint them :)

Dark Eldar Wyches – complete - ØRNULVS JANUARY 2012 PROJECT # 1

Happy new year (indeed)!

The Wyches proved to be quite a challenge to paint (for me anyway). The models are full of details, form the small spikes on the “Spandex suit” to the partial ”Kabalite armour”.

To make the Wyches units “blend” in with the rest of my Dark Eldar “infantry units” I decided to paint the armour in the same style as the Kabalite / Ghost Plate armour on my Warriors and Scourges. In order to give them a distinct look I decided to paint the Spandex suit black, using layers of dark greys to make definition. Using various washes and layers it proved quite a challenge to keep the to colour schemes separate. Equipment was also painted in the same style as the other units, however focusing on cold steel colours as I recon these “gladiators” use the best steel available “in the grim darkness of the fare future….”

I spent quite some time before I decided on the hair colour. I didn’t want to use the standard “read scheme” as I want to create my own look. 75% of my Wyches are females (of course). All of them with beautiful attributes that I painted to the best of my abilities using the very best of photos as reference…). Since the lenses on my Warriors and Scourges are “orange”, I first decided to paint “the girls” hair orange. However, after input from Inger Helene, I decided to paint one model with “black” hair and compare to orange before I decided. A good advise (in my opinion anyway). The colour I use on the skin of my Dark Eldar looks much “sicker” with dark hair than with a lighter / orange colour. I therefore decided to use my Trueborn hair / colour scheme implementing “orange” on the Agonisers instead (in an attempt to implement orange in each unit).

Enough verbal description, this is how they tuned out; 30 Wyches finished. I hope you enjoy these photos /models.

What to build and paint next?

ULTRAMARINES – A SLIGHT DEVIATION FROM THE CODEX ASTARTES…

6 kommentarer
For a longer time Lord Macragge Marneus Callgar has accepted Ortan Cassius minor deviation from the Codex Astartes in his quest to perfect tactics and weapons to purge the galaxy from the “Mankind’s rightful punishment for their lack of vigilance – The Tyranids.

As part of this quest, Cassius younger apprentice, WolffGard, has developed new skills during a recent stay with their battle brothers on their home planet “Nocturne”. Cassius is certain the Ultramarines would benefit from these skills, and wanted WolffGard to educate his fellow Ultramarines so that they under certain circumstances can use the same Chapter Tactics as the Salamanders.

The alteration comes at a price, but Callgar knows that there shall yet be another reckoning between the Ultramarines and Tyranids (and similar greater threats to mankind), and that Cassius followers may then be the key to final victory! Callgar again sanctioned Cassius request!
