Ultramarines Makeover part 13 – Landraiders

A 4-model makeover!

So, finally the ”makeover process” is done! As stated earlier, I still have to do Callgar and his Honour Guard, and some Vanguard Veterans (all metal models), but I will save that for later. I find it important to make some new models, like the Stalker/Hunter posted earlier; I guess they serve as a kind of motivation.

Enough said, first out, one out of two standard Landraiders:

Then, my Landraider Crusader:

All of my Landraiders (in blue):

Chaplain Cassius, and he’s apprentice, Chaplain Desticados, personal Landraider:

Finally, all of them:

Next up, my new Storm Talon’s!

Cheers,

    1. Thank you so much Inger Helene.:) It has been quite a journey, so it feels good finishing the project, so I can move on.

Maybe we could get in a 40K game early in 2014 (unless the Fantasy bug still keeps us occupied)?

      Cheers,

  2. Is it just me, the lighting or are they looking a little (brighter) blue than the rest of your vehicles? You did mention you thought you might have gone a little heavy on the Stalker/Hunter, so I'm thinking you may have tried to pull it back a little for these ones. (...or it may be that the Land Raider is just that much bigger than the vehicles that are based on the Rhino chassis.)

Also: Did the wash have much effect on the black Land Raider? It's not really clear (to me) from the pictures.

    1. A Wash is a Wash. And since I have to thin my own Enamel Wash, sometimes I do not get it 100% ”right”. It is the Stalker/Hunter that is darker (because three idiot Obliterators used their flamers on them not recognizing that they have AV 12…). The Landraiders are mostly the same as the rest of my tanks, but again, they all very a little, as they scold, because it mimic stages of ware and tare during battle.

The Enamel Wash is Grey/Green/Brown, so yes, it dulls down the pitch black a tiny bit, but remember that this model also have blue panels and various grey highlights and brown/reddish battle damage spots that also benefit, so yes, in my opinion it did make a difference.

      Cheers,

  3. Very nice, Ørn. I like both the ordinary ones and the dark leader of the pack. You found your way to make your vehicles less cartoonish and much more vivid and living. A great job. Respect!
