Jørn's february hobby challenge - Chaos Warhound Titan

Hi everyone. I just finished my secondary objective for this month's hobby challenge, and thought I'd post a few pictures of the legs as they... err.. stand.

From the ground to the waist, its 96 pieces of resin... Ninety-six!!! The big leg shield plates stays off until everything is painted, since there's no way I'll be able to reach anything behind them once they're glued on.

I'm not sure how many pieces remains, but I reckon I'm way past the halfway mark in that regard. It'll be interesting to see how the bigger pieces that make up the torso comes together... First though, I've got to get cracking on this mont's primary objective!

Cheers

  1. Can't wait to see the rest. I'm not sure the paint job will be easier than the building project though... ;)

How is your experience with the resin? Is it difficult, is it easy to break parts?

    Keep up the good work!
Looking forward to your nesxt post!

  2. Actually, it's easier than I thought it would be...

You quickly notice, when you're working with resin, that it's a lot more brittle than plastic. The important thing, I suppose, is to make sure to use sharp tools to make sure the cuts go where you intend them to go.

  3. In the process of building my Revenant I find that the resin parts tends to be a lot more massive and ok to work with. The problem is that the smaller parts are like Jørn said very brittle and fragile. 96 pieces of resin for the legs only??? My entire titan has about half of that..

  4. Lots of parts? Oh right – I do recall that;) It looks great Jørn! I was never happy with my own base, so I think I will try to make a new base for my own Titan. What to put on the new base? Hmmm… I think using the crashed transporter was a really nice choice. Can’t wait to se it finished!

  5. Yeah. I really appreciated that idea, and I'm saving the rest of that crashed Aquilla for any future titans i may be building...
Trond got us a small sheet each of 6mm MDF for basing, so I'm sure I can cut you a 10" base for your own Warhound too if you want me to.
